Your Questions, Answered
-
Despite living in the Information Age, it can be surprisingly tricky to find straightforward, balanced, and trustworthy information about having a baby. It can be harder yet, to make decisions once you have said information. And, it’s nearly impossible to make a decision with confidence (read: without anxiety or guilt).
Birthsmarter’s education program is built on three pillars: physiology or how the body functions and good science, the societal context or omnipresent systemic influences, and your personal circumstance or what you’re bringing to the table.
Since we cannot predict how your birth or postpartum will unfold, our teaching will enable you to think critically and improvise, rather than follow a set of arbitrary prescriptions that may or may not apply to your situation.

EMPOWERING EDUCATION
Deeply rooted in education theory and mindful pedagogy, Birthsmarter is prenatal education based on our proprietary three-part Birthsmarter Framework that gives parents the knowledge, freedom, and flexibility to choose what’s right for them. Our approach empowers parents to think critically and creatively during labor and birth so you can feel truly prepared.

UNBIASED, INCLUSIVE, ACCESSIBLE
Current models of childbirth education are outdated, unregulated, or are based on a one-size-fits-all mindset, which can leave parents riddled with fear, guilt, shame, and overwhelm during the inevitable unexpected experiences. At Birthsmarter, we believe that families should have the highest quality of education and support to meet them where they are. We welcome all individuals and family structures.

For more than a decade, Maggie Yount has helped expecting parents prepare for birth, heal and prevent core and pelvic floor dysfunction, minimize and eliminate aches and pains during pregnancy, achieve positive, empowered birth experiences, mentally and physically prepare for the experience of birth, and heal easily and quickly postpartum.
After using Hypnobirthing classes to prepare for her own births, Maggie chose to become a licensed, Certified Birthsmarter Educator because she found it to be even more useful and applicable to today’s birthing landscape, current societal changes, and what it’s like to have a baby in Bozeman, Montana. Whether you desire a home-birth, a hospital birth, or plan to use a birth center, Maggie believes Birthsmarter is the best birth education on the market that helps families truly prepare.
Maggie is passionate about supporting expecting families to have the birth they desire, no matter what that may be. She has no bias other than working to help you have a safe, positive, empowered experience, and helping you have the tools and knowledge to be truly prepared.
What People Are Saying
“This class has so much information (in a good way) and will definitely prepare you more for birth than the standard classes that exist at your local hospital. Comfort and Coping [Part 2 of the Birthsmarter Series] was just what we needed to feel more confident and connected together to bring home the skills we need for our birth. Thank you Maggie for all you do.”
~ Lauren Collette, Belgrade, MT“Maggie's Birthsmarter class helped my husband and I feel so much more at ease and informed. We learned a lot about the body's preparation, anatomy, really good nuggets to get through a safe and beautiful birth, and lots more! I now feel confident going into labor, and my husband has many tools to support me. We would highly recommend Maggie!”
~ Sarah Eggen, Bozeman, MT
“Maggie did a fantastic job explaining the anatomy and physiology of birth in a scientific yet easy-to-understand way. I came away from the class with a much deeper understanding of what my body will be doing during labor, which left me feeling more confident in my body’s ability to birth my baby. The class also boosted my decision-making confidence, helping me feel well- prepared to navigate any situation with calm and clarity. If you’re looking for a class that is informative, balanced, and thoughtful, I highly recommend Maggie’s Birthsmarter class to other expecting parents. It left me feeling more prepared, confident, and empowered for the journey ahead.”
